The T* lens coating suppresses unwanted reflections and faithfully reproduces colors for professional-looking results. The "Smooth Slow Rec" function of the HVR-HD1000U camcorder allows users to perform slow-motion playback by capturing images at four times faster than the normal field rate. while the Super SteadyShot™ (optical) feature of the HVR-HD1000U camcorder utilizes an image stabilization system using an active optical lens method that functions without any deterioration in image quality. Additionally, the Super NightShot function of the HVR-HD1000U camcorder allows the videographer to record objects in zero lux light levels for night-time monitoring and surveillance. Feature rich and affordably priced, the HVR-HD1000U High Definition shoulder mount HDV camcorder brings affordable HD capabilities to a broader range of pro shooters.

The HVR-HD1000U camcorder also features a new configuration for its LCD monitor and electronic view finder (EVF). The LCD monitor is positioned at the front of the camera operator when the camcorder is shoulder-mounted, and is attached at the EVF level. This unique layout enables traditional EVF as well as LCD monitoring for the camera operator even while the camcorder is held on the shoulder. The 180- degree tilt mechanism allows for LCD monitoring when the camcorder is held in a high or low angle position. The 360-degree swivel mechanism also allows LCD monitoring from the front, right or even left of the camcorder so that a reporter or a director can monitor what is being captured by the camcorder. The “Smooth Slow Rec” function of the HVR-HD1000U camcorder allows users to perform slow-motion playback by capturing images at four times faster than the normal field rate (240 fields/s). In this mode, quad-speed images are captured for three seconds, stored in the camcorder’s built-in buffer memory, and then recorded to tape (in either the HDV, DVCAM™, or DV formats) as slow-motion pictures lasting 12 seconds. The HVR HD1000U also offers a diverse range of photo creation features which are available at the touch of a button. In Photo Mode, the HVR-HD1000U camcorder allows the user to take 6.1-megapixel, 2848 x 2136 quality, 4:3 aspect images. Dual Rec mode allows the user to take 4.6-megapixel (16:9- aspect) photos while shooting HDV video simply by pressing the photo button. Additionally, in case the perfect timing for a still photo was missed while videotaping, the videographer can capture and save still frames from recorded video by just pressing the photo button of the HVR-HD1000U camcorder during playback. HDV footage will give them a 1.2-megapixel, 1440 x 810 pixel still image of that magic moment. The Super SteadyShot® (optical) feature of the HVR-HD1000U camcorder is an image stabilization system using an active optical lens method that functions without any deterioration in image quality. The Super NightShot® function of the HVR-HD1000U camcorder uses a built-in infrared light emitter to record objects in zero lux light levels and to allow night-time monitoring and surveillance. The HVR-HD1000U also offers benefits for SD productions as well as HD. Several down-conversion modes are selectable for the camcorder: Squeeze and Edge Crop for all video outputs, and Letter Box for component/composite/HDMI™ output. The HVR-HD1000U also makes it easy to use HDV recordings for current DV editing work. Using the HVR-HD1000U’s down-conversion feature that outputs converted DV signals through the i.LINK® connector, standard definition DV can be recorded onto an HVR-DR60 for use with a DV non-linear editing system, while retaining an HD master on the tape for future use. Furthermore, the HVR-HD1000U offers a DV recording mode (4:3 or 16:9), which can provide a recording time of approximately 120 minutes in LP mode. The HVR-HD1000U camcorder uses the same standard InfoLithium® L series batteries as the DSR-PD170, HVR-Z1U, and HVR-V1U. With the 2NP-F970/B, a maximum operating time of approximate 10 hours can be achieved thanks to the power management system and low power consumption of the ClearVid CMOS Sensor. Continuing Sony’s tradition of supplying HDV camcorders for professionals designed for maximum flexibility and high performance, this new shoulder mount design camcorder brings affordable HD capabilities to a broader range of professional shooters.
