Panasonic is excited to announce the AJHPX3000, the industry’s first native 1080p one-piece camcorder for master-quality high definition video acquisition. With three 2/3" high-density 2.2 megapixel CCDs, the HPX3000 captures cinemaquality images in full-raster 1920 x 1080 resolution with 4:2:2 10-bit sampling, utilizing the powerful, new AVC-Intra codec. It also offers incredible DVCPRO HD video quality. This camcorder includes AVC-Intra and a 5-year limited warranty (Panasonic’s normal 1-year basic warranty plus an extended 4-year warranty upon online registration).
Designed for episodic television, filmmaking and commercial production and other application where mastering quality is essential, the AJ-HPX3000 records in industry-standard DVCPRO HD and AVC-Intra (H.264 compliant) at 1080 24p, 25p, 30p, 50i and 60i. AVC-Intra, the industry’s most advanced compression technology, is a professional intra-frame video codec with bit rates of 50 and 100Mbps, utilizing the High 10 Intra and High 422 Intra profiles of H.264 respectively. AVC-Intra provides high-quality 10-bit intra-frame encoding in two modes: AVC-Intra 100 for full-raster mastering video quality, and AVC-Intra 50 Mbps for DVCPRO HD quality at half the bit rate, thereby doubling the record time on a P2 card. For added flexibility, the camera can also produce standard definition recordings in DVCPRO50, and is 60/50-Hz switchable for worldwide use.
The AJ-HPX3000 has six advanced gamma settings, including VariCam’s Film-Rec, and intuitive film camera-like operation. With five ultra-reliable 16GB P2 HD solid-state memory cards installed, the HPX3000 can capture up to 100 minutes of 1080 24p recording. Solid-state P2 recording provides users with a fast-on-set workflow, with instant access to content
for confidence viewing. The HPX3000 offers superb performance with advanced 14-bit A/D conversion and a 12-pole matrix color correction function. Additional high-end features include a Chromatic Aberration Compensation (CAC) function that corrects for lateral chromatic aberration in lenses;  film-like shutter controls; built-in scan reverse and an optional proxy video encoder (AJ-YAX800). The HPX3000 has a high sensitivity of F10 at 1,000 lux in 1080i, and a minimum illumination of .064 lx (at +56db gain-up).

With great image quality, including the same great optics and Film-Rec gamma mode as the Varicam, high resolution images and a 14- bit DSP, the AJ-HPX3000 is a powerful new tool for movie, commercial, and episodic TV program cinematographers. Six Gamma Modes Including Film-Rec A new digital signal processing (DSP) circuit In the AJ-HPX3000 has six selectable gamma modes, including Film-Rec gamma for cinema production. In addition, the HPX3000 provides other gamma modes to match the shooting application (please see diagram). In addition, the camera offers a dual optical filter wheels for separate control of ND and CC.

The HPX3000’s Film Rec gamma feature not only increases the cameras dynamic range, it does so without introducing a discontinuity in the cameras response to light. For example, highlight handling does not use the traditional video “knee” and is more gradual and natural, as it mimics the linear portion of a typical film characteristic.
Even better, colors track accurately during post-production and on-set color tweaking is not needed. The combination of Film Rec with the AJ-HPX3000s 1920 x 1080 imager and 10-bit AVC-Intra recording produces extraordinary image quality.

14-BIT DSP
The AJ-HPX3000 DSP performs 14-bit A/D conversion for the RGB signal input from the CCD, and completes all image processes, such as CAC, DRS, gamma, 12-axis independent color compensation and detail, simultaneously and digitally to achieve high image quality without degradation. For example, this allows the user to make fine adjustments in specific color regions, such as skin detail.

HIGH-SENSITIVITY DIGITAL SUPER GAIN FOR CINEMATIC EFFECTS
The AJ-HPX3000 has a high sensitivity of F10 at 1,000 lux in 1080i, and a minimum illumination of .064 lx (at +56db gain-up). In addition to the advantage that this high-sensitivity provides in shooting situations with limited light, since the number of recorded frames per second decreases, this feature can also be utilized to create a wide range of cinematic effects. For example, this can simulate *under-cranking (not variable frame rate recording), in which each frame is exposed longer. This technique can be combined with zooming to create a create some very exciting motion blur effects, warp speed zoom shots, and long exposure still shots typical of what one might see in music videos, science fiction and dream sequences.
SCAN REVERSE
The AJ-HPX3000 has a built-in scan reverse function to reverse the optical image inversion that occurs in unique set-ups, or, when lens adapters are utilized, which causes the image to be flipped upside down. For example, scan reverse is very helpful for special set-ups, such as when the AJ-HPX3000 needs to be mounted upside down on a movie shoot. This feature saves time and money in set-up for the next shot, for example, in the situation when the first shot needs to be upside down for effect, then second shot can be optical reversed, without moving the camera. Additionally, the scan reverse function allows the HPX3000 to use an anamorphic lens adapter that creates a 2.35:1 aspect image for wide-screen cinematic shooting without cropping the image, or, use an HD lens adaptor for 35mm lenses.

PROFESSIONAL CAMCORDER ACCESSORIES
Like all of Panasonic’s professional camcorders, the AJ-HPX3000 includes a wide list of accessories. All of these items make your image the best it can be. For example, the optional AJ-RC10G Remote Control Unit provides “One-Button per Function” capability. In addition, the AJ-RC10G lets you view menus directly on the remote control without having to access the menu function of the camera. To find your image, the AJ-HVF21G HD Electronic Viewfinder is the perfect solution. This 1080i HD monitor provides full resolution pictures to the operator in the viewfinder.

NEW FUJINON & CANON CAC LENSES
To compliment the AJ-HPX3000, Panasonic Engineering worked closely with Fujinon and Canon on development of new high-quality, lower cost HD lenses with Chromatic Aberration Compensation (CAC). This exclusive technology works between lens and camera, allowing for a highly sophisticated algorithm to be deployed that automatically compensates the registration error that is caused mainly by lens chromatic aberration, and minimizes the neighboring blur. By using a CAC-compatible lens, the AJ-HPX3000 can obtain images similar to those captured with higher cost lens. These HD lenses are available with or without a 2x extender.
